SUBJECTIVESubjective is a loose moniker that encompasses a wide variety of images gathered, shot, and modified by Jeffrey T. Baker over the past ten years. Some are discarded snapshots found in flea market bins while others are captured through Baker's own experiments with different cameras. Each is an amalgam of the photograph and hand-crafted layers of worked pigment, metallic leaf, and drawing. In essence, Baker reflects on the process by which layers of imagery can be merged digitally by converting that process into a physical act of experimentation in the studio.
This selection of burnished, bruised, and borrowed imagery hint at the avenues that elevate moments to memories. They support the idea that reality and time are both utterly subjective. |
